Gfrc Design and Casting

If you're this far into the site, then go full dork and bask in the glow of details.  We love this stuff and take pride in being big time concrete dorks.  It feels good to actually know something, although we probably should write it down just in case we suffer another head blow.

Wetcast
Great for outdoor design and tops

Wetcast is essentially what most people think of when they hear the word concrete.  However, the mix we use is significantly different than the concrete in the sidewalk.  This concrete is vibrated in a form to fill voids.  Steel reinforcement is added for high strength.  This process creates a very strong, smooth, dense surface.  The thickness of the piece can vary, but is typically no less than an inch and a half thick.

GFRC

The key to lightweight furniture design

Gfrc is an application where concrete is sprayed onto a form.  Glass fibers serve to reinforce the concrete creating an amazingly lightweight, yet strong piece.  The weight factor alone creates opportunities to create looks you might otherwise have to reinforce your floors to support!

Two techniques allow for a variety of design

The wine rack top is a great example of the versatility of Gfrc concrete.  Although the top appears to be two and half inches thick, the concrete itself is actually only three quarters of an inch thick.  The ability to spray concrete allows for a wide range of design that tends to only be limited by imagination.  It also really helps the lower back!
